Starts, Finishes, and Major Stash Find

Well, I finished The Maiden and it is now hanging on my daughter's wall. You can find my daily progress for this piece at my gallery. I thought it would be fun to keep track of each day's stitching as a way to motivate myself. Let me know what you think. I also framed The Dragon and it's on my son's wall.

Even though I've only done 4 of the 12 patterns for this series, I decided to start a BAP. Well, it's pretty big as far as I'm concerned anyway. It's the biggest I've ever attempted. When finished it will be about 11" x 12". It is the Fourth of July Carousel Horse. It's from a Leisure Arts book that also has carousel horses for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

And oh boy, did I have a major find this weekend. While cleaning out a closet, I found an old stash I thought I had lost when we moved into our house five years ago. In the box were around 40-50 old magazines, mainly The Cross Stitcher. A Teresa Wentzler The Guardian. A Thomas Kinkade The Garden of Prayer. A Janlynn Lighthouses. And a Dimensions Magic in Motion. Plus a binder full of patterns I had printed off the internet over the years that aren't available anymore. Suddenly I feel as if I have more to stitch than I will ever be able to finish. Sigh.

I think I will go to twice-weekly updates here. I'm still not sure how much I'll have to say, but I think I can blather on at least twice a week. I'm not sure I'm a prolific or interesting enough writer to do daily posts, at least not yet anyway.

My First Post!

Well, as this is my first post, I'm not really sure how this will all turn out. But I'm willing to give it a try.

This is where I am going to post all my cross-stitch stuff, so everyone out there on web can take a virtual peek into part of my life. You'll find my finishes, my starts, my works-in-progress, any updates, and a even a little bit about what makes me tick.

Right now, I am working on The Runekeeper Saga by Jennifer Aikman-Smith. I've decided to split it up into 12 individual pieces that will hang on my kids' walls. My son likes the dragons & castles, while my daughter loves curling up against my arm while I stitch her "princesses", as she calls them. I'm currently on The Maiden. The latest pic is above, and you can see my daily progress at http://rockwoodstitches.shutterfly.com/ I'm still working on how to best take the pictures, with flash or without. Let me know which is easier to see.
